I racked my brain to come up with my top ten favorite films. Most of these I have seen in the past few months so, undoubtedly, this list is subject to change probably weekly. Criteria for this is not necessarily pure enjoyment, but by perceived weight in film development and history.
(listed alphabetically)
Cleó from 5 to 7 (Agnés Varda, 1962)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Terry Gilliam, 1998)
Man with a Movie Camera (Dziga Vertov, 1929)
The Passion of Joan of Arc (Carl Theodor Dreyer, 1928)
Pickpocket (Robert Bresson, 1959)
Rushmore (Wes Anderson, 1998)
Saló, or the 120 Days of Sodom (Pier Paolo Pasolini, 1975)
The Squid and the Whale (Noah Baumbach, 2005)
Viridiana (Luis Buñuel, 1961)
